Frederick Kosinski, PhD
I am a fully licensed psychologist in Michigan and Indiana, and I am listed in the National Registry of Health Service Psychologists. I have maintained a part-time practice as a psychologist at University Medical Specialties in Berrien Springs since 1984.
My work as a therapist has been strongly influenced by the notion that to be spiritually and psychologically healthy, we need to maintain a balance between social interest (meeting the needs of others) and self-interest (meeting our needs). We are free to make choices and responsible for the choices that we make. We make better choices for ourselves when we increase our self-awareness and are in touch with both our thoughts and feelings. We both search for meaning and make our own meaning.
I use the therapeutic relationship to help patients identify and express their feelings and gain insight and I use evidence-based interventions including cognitive, behavioral, and experiential interventions to assist them in achieving their therapeutic goals.
